Leveraging AI to make it easier

Some of the ways AI is helping customers

Personalizing the auto-creation of photo books
This moves the experience from "auto-filling" a book, to creating a book more tailored to the customer. They can decide to use all of their photos or only the best. They can select the approximate length of their book, preferred size of their photos, and the use of embellishments.

Creating captions
A list of potential captions is generated directly from the photo, or customers can also choose from a theme based list.

Creating a photo canvas
This selects the orientation that works best with the customer's selected photo, and will eventually also suggest size and wrap.

Our result

Customers who use this feature have significantly higher conversion rates. With the questions, the customer has more control over the resulting book and it more closely matches their expectation.

What we learned

Successful AI integration strikes a balance between automation and user control. It helps to simplify tasks, but it's important the customer feels in control and maintains the ability to make decisions.

Creating captions

Writing photo captions can be difficult and time consuming. This feature provides AI generated captions based on the particular photo, as well as a selection of theme based captions. The customer can choose from these captions, edit them after selecting, or directly enter their own.

Making it easier to create a photo canvas

Getting a photo to display just right on a canvas can be tricky. This experience simplifies that by automatically changing the canvas orientation to match the selected photo.  Eventually, this will suggest a size and wrap that works best with the photo, helping alleviate cropping issues customers are currently experiencing.
